Aerial Dance I - Ages 4-7

Come soar
on the Single Point low Flying Trapeze in a safe and nurturing
environment. Children are introduced to basic trapeze technique
while increasing motor skills, coordination and spatial
awareness. By combining movement on the trapeze and creative
dance, children will experience the freedom of gliding and
flying throughout the space and in the air. The class will
emphasize expressiveness and individuality.

Aerial Dance II - Ages 8-11

Come fly,
soar and swarm on the ground and into the air. Have fun learning
the basic single point low flying trapeze technique in a safe
and creatively adventurous environment. Students will progress
at their own individual pace while discovering the joys of
moving throughout space simultaneously with others.

This class
will take the child on a magical journey of natural music and
movement. It will offer a creative look into the being and
development of your child. By creating a safe, positive and
exciting atmosphere, children will experience the true joy of
movement and an opportunity to experience, apply and reinforce
the concepts of cooperation, self control, self confidence and
sharing.
Aerial Dance
I

Experience
the freedom of soaring on the single point low flying trapeze
with emphases on safety and the fundamentals of correct
placement, strength/stretch development while cultivating
movement ease. Students will learn to move from the ground into
the air and back again with beautiful fluidity and ease of
transition. Accommodating all ranges of strengths and skills,
students will learn the basics of trapeze technique while
flying, hanging and suspending. Students will progress at their
own individual pace and discover an increased awareness of
transitional movement and spatial timing.

Incorporating all aspects of Aerial Dance I, students move
beyond to learn more difficult hangs, flight patterns and
partnering. We will begin learning more complex movement
patterns and sequences, with stronger emphasis on transitional
moments and partnering relationships.

II

Incorporating all aspects of Aerial Dance I, students move
beyond to learn more difficult hangs, flight patterns and
partnering. We will begin learning more complex movement
patterns and sequences, with stronger emphasis on transitional
moments and partnering relationships. In addition we will
experiment with new hybrid aerial apparatus created /designed by
O-T-O Dance.
Aerial
Performance Class

Participants will learn the aerial dance, “CRY SALAM” which is
set to the music of Hanz Zimmer and is a prayer for peace and
end to war and oppression. As a pre-requisite, students need to
have completed at least 2 sessions of Aerial Dance I and/or
Aerial I/II to participate in this performance level class. “CRY
SALAM” will be performed in O-T-O Dance’s late spring
performance, Flying, Dance and Films III at the Stevie Eller
Dance Theatre on June 20th & 21st.
Modern I
Instructor:

A class
utilizing an eclectic blend of modern styles based in Limon and
Graham techniques. Flavored with alignment approaches from other
movement practices this modern class is all about moving.
Working through a wide range of movement skills; building
strength, flexibility and dynamic range creating an athletic
class which explores changes of weight, off balance suspensions
and upper body supports while emphasizing proper alignment and
musicality. Warm-up includes a progression from floor to
standing center. From the first warm-up exercise to the last
bold jumps, you will strengthen and stretch your body beyond the
limits that you thought possible, and have a great time dancing
through it all.
Intermediate
Modern

Carolyn’s
dance class is based on the Limon technique she learned from
Jennifer Muller. The class begins with a short Yoga based
warm-up. Following that is a traditional barre that utilizes
classical ballet leg work in conjunction with a full range of
upper body movement. The time spent in the center of the room,
following the barre, is used to strengthen the balance, loft in
jumping and adagio movement. The final moments of class are all
out across the floor ecstatic fun! Come join us!
Pilates Mat
Class

This class
will focus on building core strength of the central body while
lengthening and strengthening muscle and instilling a sense of
well being for the whole person. This experience will provide
dancers with additional stretching exercises and many
visualizations to compliment their dance studies. Exercises
tone, stretch, lengthen the muscles and support correct spinal
alignment creating a more balanced body allowing tension to
release and energy to flow. Whether you are a dancer or
non-dancer, this class will energize you while improving your
well being both physically and mentally. |
